72x91. 1995. Tossed up on the shore of memory. I took a small study on silver leaf to Japan and worked this up. I regarded it as one of my most important paintings and one of the prototypes for my new work. I feel maybe some viewers don't get it though. The details help, but you have to see the real thing. I think there's a TS Elliot poem with a line or two I remembered.
